Lauren Mitchell works in the complex litigation/dispute resolution group, focusing her practice on the resolution of employment disputes. She defends employers against discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims in EEOC investigations through civil litigation and provides legal counsel in defending against Title VII, ADEA, FLSA, state labor code claims, and employment-related tort claims. Lauren frequently prosecutes claims for breach of covenants not to compete and she represents clients regarding confidentiality and non-solicitation agreements. She is licensed to practice in both Texas and Illinois.
Lauren received her J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, graduating cum laude. While in law school, she was selected as an articles editor for the International Law Review Association and she worked as a student attorney in the SMU Civil Clinic where she represented clients in consumer law matters.
A little more about Lauren
I was born in Pampa, Texas, a postage-stamp sized town in the Panhandle. But I grew up in suburban Dallas.
I attended University of Texas at Dallas and majored in crime and justice studies for my undergraduate degree.
I enjoy helping clients avoid legal troubles and when they do arise, solving them in an efficient manner which advances the client’s business goals. My true passion is researching and writing. There is nothing better than finding that perfectly on-point case that you know will result in a win for the client.
My favorite non work activity is showing my kids the world and (hopefully) passing on my love of travel to them. If you can survive international travel with a 3- and 6-year-old, you can do anything. I also enjoy hosting parties and gardening (especially peonies – I grow six varieties and counting).
My favorite place to visit or vacation is Positano, Italy but my in-laws are Greek immigrants (and my husband a first generation American), so we have seen quite a bit of Greece as well.Lauren Mitchell New Partner Announcement
