Munck Wilson Mandala Hires Samuel Gee and Alec Morovitz as IP Associates
Munck Wilson Mandala hired two new IP associates earlier this month, Samuel Gee and Alexander “Alec” Morovitz. Gee and Morovitz join the firm’s impressive IP team with more than 500 years of technology and engineering experience and 30 registered patent attorneys.
Gee received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where he was articles editor for the SMU Science and Technology Law Review and a member of the Intellectual Property Organization. He served as a pupil in the Barbara M. G. Lynn American Inn of Court.
Gee was a summer associate at Munck Wilson Mandala in 2017 and worked as a law clerk during his last year of law school, through August 2018. As a law clerk, Gee gained experience in various areas of technology, including telecommunications, wireless media streaming, drone software, avionics, and oil and gas drilling while he assisted with all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution in both national and international markets.
Gee also worked as a legal intern at Essilor and ExxonMobil before accepting his position at MWM. He is a registered patent agent and holds a B.S. in biochemistry from the Abilene Christian University.
Morovitz received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where he graduated cum laude, he was associate managing editor for the SMU Science and Technology Law Review and president for the Intellectual Property Organization. He served as a pupil in the Barbra M. G. Lynn American Inn of Court. He is a registered patent agent and holds a B.S. in Biology, graduating cum laude from the University of Texas in San Antonio.
Prior to working his associate position at Munck Wilson Mandala, Morovitz externed for Federal Magistrate Judge Renee H. Toliver for the Northern District of Texas. He also worked in the SMU Patent Clinic, drafting nonprovisional patent applications, office action responses, and communicating directly with inventors and patent examiners.
In law school, Morovitz worked as a litigation clerk at Waters Kraus & Paul, where he drafted briefs, motions, and discovery requests and he worked an externship at UT Southwestern Medical Center Office for Technology Development, drafting communications with inventors regarding patentability determinations and investigating ownership of inventions involving third-party funding for research. He previously clerked at The Roper Firm, PC in Dallas and interned in the City of Plano Prosecution Office.
