Munck Wilson Mandala has added litigation partner Paul Gelb to the firm’s Los Angeles office. Gelb brings more than 20 years of legal experience representing clients in business transactions and commercial litigation.
“Paul has a dynamic practice with clients in fashion, entertainment, real estate, health care, and the energy sector,” said MWM’s LA managing partner Gary Hecker. “His established LA practice complements our sports and entertainment practice, and he is an excellent addition to our award-winning litigation team,” added MWM’s managing partner William A. Practicing in the LA market since 2001, Gelb has grown his law practice by focusing on clients with brands, international operations, and significant real estate assets. In energy, he spearheaded the defense of several litigation matters for a national energy company related to solar and wind energy development projects, defeating claims challenging the approval of large-scale solar energy projects.
In real estate, he negotiated and settled a complex lease dispute for a corporate headquarters project, and he supervised the sale of a significant warehouse and industrial building in LA proper. In fashion, Gelb negotiates trademark license and influencer agreements for prominent brands, and in healthcare, he managed international trademark issues for a global medical device company. In entertainment, Gelb regularly counsels a television production company and has litigated high stakes disputes in the Weinstein bankruptcy proceedings.
Gelb is known for understanding his clients’ industries and challenges and having a prolific ability to consult with them in all aspects of their business. He assists clients with contract negotiations and employment law matters and defends them against claims asserted by regulators or adversaries. Gelb is considered a businessman’s lawyer and his tenure in the LA market has made him highly regarded by clients in a variety of industries.
Gelb is a member of the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and worked on the Journal of Law and Social Problems. He holds a B.A. in history from Columbia University in New York.
