Munck Wilson Mandala is proud to add litigation partner Yael Tobi, founding member of the Tobi Law Group, to the firm’s award-winning litigation practice. Tobi brings more than 17 years of litigation experience, with an impressive record of successfully representing clients in high-stakes litigation matters in real estate, corporate, labor and employment, and entertainment law.
Prior to joining MWM, Tobi practiced as a civil litigator for over a decade at international law firms in LA, including Jones Day and Manatt Phelps and Phillips. She has represented both plaintiffs and defendants and brings a deep understanding of how her opponents think.
In 2013, Tobi launched her own firm and led a successful team of attorneys representing clients in intellectual property, entertainment, securities fraud and corporate disputes, white-collar criminal defense, real estate, and labor and employment. Her extensive background in real estate includes handling purchase and sale transactions, ownership disputes, development and valuation, property tax, easements, land use, and construction-related matters.
Tobi has represented clients in state and federal courts, including Fortune 500 corporations, public and private companies, law firms, and high-profile individuals. She has a successful track record of winning settlements on behalf of her clients in multimillion-dollar disputes and her proximity to LA has provided her rich experience representing entertainment clients in intellectual property protection, contract negotiations with studios and networks, and employment, among other legal matters.
A well-rounded litigator, Tobi has strong ties to Israel and many of her clients are Israeli based. She has a unique background as a former professional tennis player and has kept in touch with her colleagues in the sports industry, making her an additional asset to MWM’s growing sports law practice.
Tobi received her J.D. from Loyola Law School and was in the top 10 percent of her class. In law school, she worked on the Entertainment Law Review and she was a member of the St. Thomas More Law Honor Society. Tobi earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Pepperdine University, graduating with honors. As a tennis player, she received a full athletic scholarship from Pepperdine and was a member of the NCAA’s top-ranked team in the country.
The addition of Tobi to the LA office gives MWM a total of nine attorneys, locally and 75 nationally. She is LA’s fourth hired partner and fifth female attorney hired, making the LA office more than 50 percent female.
