Austin, TX Aug 8, 2022 – Munck Wilson Mandala partner Gabriela Monahan has been appointed to the board of the U.S. – Mexico Bar Association. The USMBA is a bi-national bar association with more than 300 attorney members from both the U.S. and Mexico. With cross border legal practices and interests, the USMBA’s mission is to promote understanding of the legal systems and practices and cultural differences of the two nations. To facilitate communication among its members, they provide a platform for exchanging legal information regarding issues of law that affect their common interests, such as commerce, investment, immigration, and trade.
Monahan is a partner in the firm’s litigation section, working out of the South Austin office. She concentrates her practice in high-stakes litigation, corporate law, and international arbitration. Monahan has an impressive legal career, practicing law for more than 20 years in Chicago at an Amlaw 100 law firm before transitioning to a global accounting firm as managing director and special counsel on risk and public policy. Monahan graduated with honors from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and clerked for the Honorable James Zagel at the U.S. District Court, N.D. of Illinois. She was born in Argentina and is a native Spanish speaker. Prior to law school, Monahan received her B.A. magna cum laude in business administration from Baylor University.
