Dallas, TX, September 14, 2020 – Munck Wilson Mandala named senior partners Michael McCabe and Jenny Martinez as Co-Chairs the firm’s award-winning Complex Litigation/Dispute Resolution Section.  This announcement comes two weeks after the firm announced the election of Martinez to serve on MWM’s Executive Committee, where she joined McCabe.

McCabe will continue his position as Co-Chair of MWM’s Employment and Labor Law Section, leading MWM’s employment litigation practice.  Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Labor and Employment Law, McCabe is a skilled trial lawyer known for breaking down the facts in complicated cases and connecting with juries.

McCabe represents high profile clients and handles both complex commercial, technology and employment litigation cases.  He was co-lead counsel of the MWM litigation team that won a $77 million judgment for MWM’s client for theft of trade secrets in 2015, earning a top verdict title that year, and in 2016, he convinced the Texas Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision to dismiss a doctor’s defamation suit against MWM’s client, a television station.

“Michael is one of the most talented trial lawyers I know and an excellent business developer.  Michael does an outstanding job teaching and encouraging our younger attorneys how to build and sustain strong relationships in the legal and business community,” said Executive Committee Member, Michael C. Wilson.

Martinez has had an impressive 21-year legal career representing clients in finance, technology, employment, securities and environmental litigation.  She has worked on high stakes litigation cases at notable law firms in Dallas and was previously a name partner with Godwin Bowman Martinez where she chaired the Litigation Section, and was a member of the Deepwater Horizon trial team successfully representing Haliburton in one of the largest environmental lawsuits in the history of the United States.  While at her prior firm, Martinez was a panel speaker at MWM’s S.H.E. Summit Dallas Event in 2018 (which McCabe co-hosted). She joined the firm a month later.

“Jenny is a poised leader and an excellent lawyer,” said Managing Partner, William A. Munck. “With Jenny’s presence, MWM has recruited and retained a cadre of talented female attorneys, doubled the number of female partners, and increased our total female attorney headcount to more than 40 percent in the past two years.  She is a change agent, demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and is highly regarded in the legal community.  Jenny has assumed a leadership role since the day she arrived, and the firm recognizes the work she does to make us better.”

Both McCabe and Martinez are frequently honored for their legal talent.  McCabe is consistently listed as a top lawyer in employment law and litigation.  Annually he is selected as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and he was recognized among the Top 100 Super Lawyers in Texas and Top 100 Super Lawyers in DFW from 2014-2018.   McCabe is also recognized annually among the Best Lawyers in America© by WoodwardWhite, Inc. and as a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine.  Martinez is recognized annually as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine, and she has been listed as one of the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America since 2017.

Now the duo will helm MWM’s award-winning litigation section that boasts 32 highly talented attorneys (14 partners) working in MWM’s Dallas, Austin, Miami, and LA offices.  Both bring unique qualities and legal experience, and both have been critical in mentoring and developing younger attorneys.

Martinez is a founding fellow of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation and is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the Dallas Bar Association.  Martinez received her J.D. cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where she was a chief counsel at the SMU Legal Clinic, a research assistant to Professor Ellen Smith Pryor, and treasurer of the SMU Women in Law organization.
