Munck Wilson Mandala’s co-chair of the complex litigation/dispute resolution practice Jenny Martinez is once again listed among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America.  The 2021 publication highlights 500 lawyers who have demonstrated remarkable legal talent throughout the U.S.  Only 14 DFW attorneys were selected.  To see the list of honorees, click here.

Martinez is a trial attorney with a 22-year legal career representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of business disputes. She has worked for large, midsized, and small firms, and she rose to the rank of name partner and executive vice president at a boutique litigation firm in Dallas before joining MWM.

Known for taking on complex business disputes involving finance, real estate, employment, intellectual property, cyber security, and insurance, Martinez served as a key member of the defense team for Halliburton in connection with all civil litigation and investigations arising out of British Petroleum’s Macondo well (Deepwater Horizon) blowout in the Gulf of Mexico, the largest environmental lawsuit in the history of the United States.

At MWM, Martinez, a senior partner, serves on the executive committee and she plays a critical role in helping the firm recruit and retain female legal talent.  She understands the challenges of women lawyers having accomplished an impressive list of career milestones while raising four children.  Martinez has been instrumental in recruiting strong female laterals, including a longtime colleague who brought 27 years of litigation and project management experience to the firm when she joined MWM this past December.

Since joining the firm in late 2018, Martinez has worked with managing partner William A. Munck and MWM’s executive committee to develop strategies to recruit and retain female legal talent and build programs that encourage the development and growth of younger attorneys.  Their collaborative efforts have led to MWM nearly tripling the number of female partners and increasing MWM’s female attorney headcount to 35 percent from 20 percent in two years.

“Jenny is a tremendous part of Munck Wilson’s successes, both in the courtroom and growing our firm,” said Munck.  “We have strengthened the ranks of our litigation section through her guidance and input and her management and mentoring skills have been key in developing our younger attorneys.”

Frequently honored for her legal and business skills, Martinez is regularly listed as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters and a Best Lawyer in Dallas by D Magazine.  She received her J.D. cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
