Dallas, TX, Aug. 28, 2017 —–Munck Wilson Mandala’s managing partner William “Bill” A. Munck has been selected as one of the 2017 Distinguished Leaders by Texas Lawyer magazine.  Munck will be honored at the Texas Lawyer’s 2017 Professional Excellence Awards on Sep. 6, 2017, at the Belo Mansion in Dallas, Texas.  The awards recognize lawyers who have made an impact in the Texas legal community and continue to have extraordinary careers.

Munck Wilson Mandala is a leading technology-focused law firm, serving entrepreneurs and start-ups as well as Fortune 50 clients. Munck joined the firm as a partner in the late 90s and by 2001, he was the managing partner.  Through strong leadership and a team-oriented culture, Munck Wilson Mandala has become a highly regarded law firm with an impressive roster of 60 attorneys, representing clients in complex litigation, IP, corporate, labor and employment, hospitality, sports law, healthcare and a variety of other legal areas.

Many of the firm’s attorneys previously worked in the private sector as engineers and bring uncommon technical knowledge and skills in over 25 different industries.  Recently, the firm acquired IP boutique Howison and Arnott, L.L.P., adding seven new IP attorneys to the IP team and increasing the headcount of registered patent attorneys to 27. The firm’s clients span a full spectrum from the World’s largest international technology companies to small-cap/privately-held companies to the entrepreneur working out of his/her garage.

By instilling a “work hard/have fun” philosophy at Munck Wilson Mandala, the law firm has maintained a large percentage of attorneys and staff with 15-years tenure or longer.  Firm traditions such as birthdays celebrated monthly with cakes purchased from a client’s bakery, Friday morning breakfasts provided by the partners on a rotation, and movies twice a year for employees and their families at a local theater, have contributed to a positive and inclusive firm culture.

Active in the North Texas legal and civic community, Munck is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the New York State Bar Association, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the Dallas Bar Association.  He is the father of two sons diagnosed with juvenile diabetes and he and his wife have been actively involved in efforts to educate the community and raise funds to help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  As a member of JDRF, Munck served on the board and the executive committee for more than 15 years before transitioning his efforts to the American Diabetes Association, where he is now a member of ABA’s Attorney Advocacy Network.

Munck is also involved with an organization focused on providing meals for food-insecure students in the Dallas Independent School District, serving on the board of directors and as a member of the executive committee for Hunger Busters, a nonprofit organization that he plans to continue supporting as chairman of the board.

The first in his family to go to college, Munck earned a master’s in computer science and engineering with honors, and received his J.D. with honors from Hofstra University School of Law, where he is listed among the law school’s distinguished alumni.
