Munck Wilson Mandala has strengthened its patent litigation team with new partner Amy LaValle.  LaValle brings 18 years of legal service representing clients in patent litigation and other intellectual property matters.  She was previously a partner at Wick Phillips in Dallas.

LaValle is known as a lawyer who handles complex patent litigation and transactional matters for clients in varied industries.  Her legal career spans nearly two decades working for global law firms including Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher in Dallas and New York, and Jones Day in Dallas, prior to joining MWM.

“Amy has a very impressive background and diversified practice,” said Mike Wilson, MWM’s chair of patent litigation.  “She is an outstanding addition to our team.”

“With her extensive IP litigation experience, Amy brings tremendous assets for our clients and we are looking forward to working with her,” added MWM litigation partner Jordan Strauss.

While her primary focus is on patent infringement cases, LaValle handles a wide variety of IP matters for clients related to trademark and copyright infringement, trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition, and antitrust matters.  Her impressive list of representative transactions includes handling disputes related to medical devices, network management systems, consumer products, telecom and mobile devices, financial services, semiconductors, and more.  As a diversified legal professional, LaValle also assists clients with corporate transactions, technology transactions, and negotiations of IP licenses.

A registered patent attorney, LaValle is listed as a Texas Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, a Best Lawyer in America by Woodward White, and she is a Barrister of the Barbara M.G. Lynn Inn of Court.  She has served as a featured speaker on patent litigation topics at bar events and IP conferences and she is a member of the Computer and Technology Section and Intellectual Property Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Intellectual Property Section of the Dallas Bar Association.

LaValle received her J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, graduating cum laude, and she has a Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University, graduating cum laude.  Her addition to MWM brings the firm’s female partner headcount to an impressive 33 percent and total female attorney headcount to 40 percent, well above the national average.
