Wei Wei is a patent litigation attorney in the complex litigation/dispute resolution group. Wei brings impressive legal experience representing clients in patent infringement actions in the U.S. and China.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Wei worked as an engineer and business consultant and he was a teacher and graduate advisor at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas in Dallas.  In addition to his law practice, Wei is an active partner in an investment consulting company focused on commercial real estate, mineral mining, arts and technologies including semiconductors.

As an IP and litigation attorney, Wei has represented various semiconductor, electronic displays, software and telecommunications clients in both the U.S. and China.  He has managed complex litigation cases involving the testimony of experts and his work has led to successful settlements in favor of his clients.  Wei is also a reputable writer and his articles on the U.S. legal system have been published in Duzhe, a widely circulated magazine in China.

Wei is a member of the State Bar of Texas and earned his Ph.D. in computer science telecommunications from the University of Missouri in Kansas City, where he was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for three consecutive years.  Wei also holds a master’s of engineering in computer science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Computing Technology in Beijing, China.  Wei received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.

Representative Matters

  • Represented clients in patent infringement actions in Chinese Courts and defended IPRs in SIPO;
  • Represented clients in patent infringement actions in the U.S. and China, defending licensing demands and reducing license royalty rates for clients;
  • IP acquisition and evaluation as part of M&A;
  • Case evaluation work that included: selecting patents, reverse engineering potential infringing products and developing claim charts, retaining and managing experts and studying validity of patents;
  • Litigated commercial disputes in U.S., China, and Taiwan;
  • Defended and enforced clients’ global patent licensing in technology areas, including telecommunications, electronic display, computing, and semiconductors.
