Munck Wilson Mandala is proud to announce that partner Randy Ray received the prestigious Justice Award from the LGBT Bar Association of Dallas at its annual Visibility Ball, held Oct. 10 in Dallas at the Warwick Hotel. Established in 2019, the Justice Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the LGBTQ+ community by fighting injustice and exhibiting a “Heart of Gold.”

Ray was recognized for more than two decades of leadership and service to the North Texas LGBTQ+ community, particularly through his longstanding commitment to Black Tie Dinner. He has served the organization in numerous leadership roles as a member of its board of directors and advisory board, including two years as co-chair, and has served as general counsel since 2009. Ray was the fourth person selected as a lifetime member of the Advisory Board.

“Randy’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ community is a reflection of who he is at his core,” said William A. Munck, global managing partner of Munck Wilson Mandala. “He brings the same integrity, generosity, and determination to his community service that he brings to his clients and colleagues. We are incredibly proud to see him receive this well-deserved recognition.”

Through his leadership and legal counsel, Ray has helped make Black Tie Dinner one of the nation’s leading LGBTQ+ fundraising events. Beyond raising millions of dollars for North Texas organizations advancing LGBTQ+ equality, health, education, and advocacy, the event serves as a powerful celebration of community, visibility, and empowerment for LGBTQ+ people across the region.

Ray’s commitment to community leadership extends well beyond Black Tie Dinner. A graduate of Leadership Dallas, he has held leadership roles and supported organizations including Uplift Education, The Dallas Assembly, Turtle Creek Chorale, Tech Titans and the National Association of Corporate Directors. He has also been recognized as a Leadership Dallas Alumni Hero for his contributions to the North Texas community.

At MWM, Ray is a partner in the firm’s corporate practice and has more than 40 years of legal experience. He advises public and private companies, boards of directors, executive officers, private equity firms, investors, and other clients on corporate and securities matters, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings, securities compliance, corporate governance, and executive compensation.  Ray also serves on MWM’s Executive Committee.

A veteran of the United States Army, Ray received the Army Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He is a Phi Beta Kappa and Life Fellow of the Texas and Dallas Bar Foundations. He earned his J.D. cum laude from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and assistant editor-in-chief of the Southwestern Law Journal.
