Munck Wilson Mandala has added principal attorney Lewis Schiel, Jr. to the firm’s intellectual property practice. Schiel will support clients in patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and provide support for the firm’s strong patent litigation work. He previously worked as a senior manager in-house at PanOptis, where he oversaw development and maintenance of a large international telecommunications patent portfolio largely directed to 3GPP LTE technology, assisted in reviews of acquisitions, and supported licensing efforts.

Schiel is a registered patent attorney who brings nearly 11 years of legal experience in patent evaluation, preparation, and prosecution. This experience includes successfully prosecuting patents across industries domestically and abroad, evaluating products for evidence of patent infringement, and preparation of claim charts for presentation to potential licensees.

Schiel received his J.D.from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he was an editor on the SMU Science and Technology Law Review. He holds a Master’s in business administration from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in telecommunications engineering technology from Texas A&M University.
