Hongyu Wang is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property group. His practice focuses on IP protection and patent prosecution for advanced technologies, including telecommunications, wireless communications, electronics, software, and mechanical systems. He works closely with inventors, engineers, and in-house counsel to develop strategic patent portfolios that protect innovation and support long-term business objectives.

As a patent attorney, Hongyu drafts and prosecutes U.S. patent applications involving telecommunication and wireless technologies, including 5G NR, RAN, and core network systems. He develops prosecution strategies, prepares responses to USPTO Office Actions, and leverages claim charts and 3GPP technical contributions to strengthen patent protection. He also coordinates with foreign associates on international prosecution strategies to maintain consistency across global patent portfolios.

Hongyu is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is licensed in New York. In addition to his legal experience, he brings technical proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, C++, and SolidWorks, along with advanced knowledge of wireless communications and 5G technologies through coursework completed with Qualcomm Academy. He is a native Mandarin speaker.
