John Lord is a partner in the firm’s award-winning litigation group. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation and counseling, representing clients in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes, while also advising on intellectual property litigation funding, due diligence, transactional matters, and strategic portfolio considerations. John has successfully represented companies from startups to multinational corporations, research institutions, and individual innovators in complex intellectual property matters across the country.

A registered patent attorney with more than two decades of experience, John handles high-stakes disputes on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants. Clients value John’s ability to quickly master complex technologies and develop litigation strategies that position cases for success. Known for his thorough preparation and strategic approach, he combines technical insight with practical business judgment to help clients navigate challenging intellectual property disputes and opportunities.

John earned his BS (Mathematics, and minor in Physics) from the University of Southern California and his JD from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he was a member of the Dean’s Honor List, received the American Jurisprudence Award, and served as senior articles editor of the International and Comparative Law Review. Outside of his practice, John serves on the Board of Directors of Once Upon a Room, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming hospital rooms for children facing serious illnesses.
